Liveaboard diving entails staying on a boat or ship for some time without returning to land. The advantage of this is that it enables the divers to reach those reefs which may be too far from land to visit by day. You may have seen the saying “Dive, eat, sleep, repeat” in the diving world, this is precisely what you do on a liveaboard.
Yes, your dive guide can pass your gear to the crew on the tender allowing you to climb aboard without the excess weight of your equipment.

She is recognisable not only by her distinct red sails but also from the big screen, where she appeared in the Bond movie “The man with the golden gun’, and she retains all of her charms!
The Junk liveaboard can cater for 18 divers. With 2 private cabins configured to accommodate twin/double beds, 2 three berths cabins (which can also be twins or doubles) and 2 four-berth cabins (which are all bunks but can also be utilised as Shared Twin). All the cabins are fully air-conditioned and have their own hot water shower and en-suite toilet.
The west coast of Thailand and Myanmar
The Similan and Surin islands are open during the months of October to May which coincides with good sailing conditions in Myanmar. The Junk’s schedule has a variety of both locations during this time. Outside of these months, you will find The Junk operating the southern coastline of Thailand in and around the cluster of islands of Phi Phi Don & Phi Phi Lae that make up the location more commonly known as the Phi Phi islands.
The west coast of Thailand and Myanmar are well known for their great dive locations with opportunities to see Mantas and Whalesharks. If the large flappy fish (Mantas) is your thing then we would highly recommend a Myanmar trip as The Junk includes dives at Black Rock which is an awesome location to experience Mantas. If Whalesharks or a mixture of both is more your cup of tea, then we would suggest the Similan islands mid to late season, particularly Koh Tachai, Koh Bon and Richelieu Rock.
