How do I get there?
Nearest Airport: Sam Ratalungi International Airport Manado (MDC)
Suggested flights via Singapore, Jakarta, Tokyo or Denpasar. Domestic flights are available to and from other Southeast Asia regions with numerous airlines
Here's an easy way to see all the Flight Connections
Transfers:
30-40 minutes by car - Manado International Airport to the harbour then a short boat ride to the resort
Nomadic Scuba top tip: For domestic flights, we recommend scheduling early morning departures. From our extensive experience, flights later in the day are more susceptible to flight delays or baggage having to be sent seperately.
Do I need a visa for this trip?
Visa on arrival is available for many countries which costs USD35. However, VoA also tends to attract significant delays with queues etc.
Nomadic Scuba's advise: To get ahead of the game use the online portal and arrange your visa before you leave home.

What level of dive training do I need for these trips?
The Lembeh Straits are sheltered from strong weather fronts, making them ideal for novice divers who want to learn. However, if you are already certified and visiting to explore the macro life, we strongly recommend practising your buoyancy to avoid harming the delicate creatures that live on the open sand dive sites.
Nomadic Scuba top tip: If you find your fins wandering a little on a dive, move yourself a few meters away from the dive site, reset your trim and balance and then return to the macro action.
What should we expect from the local climate?
North Sulawesi has a Tropical rainforest climate and a yearly temperature around 27.35ºC (81.23ºF). Typically receives about 58 mm (2.29 inches) of precipitation and around 137 rainy days (37.54% of the time) per year.
- Warmest month - March (31.02ºC / 87.84ºF)
- Coldest Month - September (22.4ºC / 72.32ºF)
- Wettest Month - April (107.3mm / 4.22in)
- Driest Month - August (25.75mm / 1.01in)
MONEY - Can I pay by card/ phone on the trip?
The local currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).
You can pay by card at the resort however, it is always wise to take some cash for small items and tips etc.
Nomadic Scuba Top Tip: Speaking of wise, we use WISE for all of our transactions, and we save hundreds on pointless fees and brutal exchange rates. If you have yet to open an account, we strongly urge you to do so (it takes 5 minutes). Follow the link below and if you need a hand, we are here to help.

Do I need dive and travel insurance?
Absolutely, without a doubt! Comprehensive travel and diving insurance is essential for planning any scuba diving trip. Many operators require proof of both before allowing you to participate in their activities or use their services here's why.
We recommend DiveAssure for both dive and travel insurance. You can choose between single-trip or annual coverage.
To arrange your insurance now, please use this link -DiveAssure registration.
Are there any medical reasons why I cannot dive?
Operators providing dive services will require you to complete an RSTC medical declaration. Should you need to answer ‘YES’ to any of the questions then you will need a doctor to sign as authorizing you to be medically fit to dive. You can find an example of the RSTC medical questionnaire here.
What are the dive conditions like?
The Lembeh Straits is year-round diving with minimal currents and slow-moving long dives (critter hunting), you can feel the chill a little quicker than you normally would.
Wet season - December to March
Dry season - July to September
Water temperatures are 25º-26ºC through July and August, with the remainder of the year typically 27º-29ºC.
Nomadic Scuba top tip: Make sure your buoyancy is on point. The floor is alive with macro in the Lembeh Straits, so you must be aware of your position in the water and protect the critters.
Do we need to use dive guides?
Yes, aside from Indonesian law, forbidding any visitors diving without a local guide or instructor, the guides are crucial in experiencing Lembeh's critters. They are also experts in photography support, not only locating the critters but then being able to assist with your lighting setup or even modelling.
Nomadic Scuba top tip: Tune in to your guide, and don't tune out.
Can I extend my stay?
Absolutely! If you’d like to extend your stay, just let us know, and we’ll be happy to arrange a quote for you. Many of our guests enjoy exploring multiple locations within the same trip. If this appeals to you, we’d be delighted to offer some suggestions. Please keep in mind that booking in advance is recommended, especially for popular destinations and peak seasons.
