Introduction
We first met Taz during the inaugural underwater photography competition in Aqaba, Jordan, where she assisted Alvero Herrera, who secured 2nd place in the week-long wreck competition. With a zest for life and the characteristic Canadian politeness, Taz is a fantastic ambassador for our sport. She extends this enthusiasm to her online presence, and regularly posts on IG. Taz's career has seen her working in Honduras, Micronesia, Canada, the USA, and Mexico. Now, she provides bespoke adventures and exceptional service to divers exploring the magic beneath Tulum via personalised guiding and awesome week-long group expeditions.

Know before you go
How do I get there?
Closest International Airport: Tulum International (TQO)
Aeropuerto Internacional de Tulum Felipe Carrillo Puerto is some 20km outside of Tulum and accessible from numerous International hubs such as Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas Fort Worth, Calgary and Frankfurt.
Do I need a visa for this trip?
To visit Mexico you will need a Tourist Card. However, commercial airlines no longer issue them. You need to complete the registration online and be able to present it on arrival.
What level of dive training do I need?
You can dive with Taz as long as you have an Open Water Diver certificate or equivalent. However, to attend the expeditions you will need to be Advanced Open Water as a minimum.
What are the dive conditions like?
EPIC!! Inside the cenote caverns it can get dark so the water temp drops too, however, it stays constant at 25ºC (77ºF). Depending on how quickly you feel the cold you'll need a 3mm wetty or more. Bear in mind that you will not be going through any scary squeeze holes and the entire experience feels roomy.
For the Tulum coast and Cozumel expect super warm water with great visibility. If you get cold in warm water then maybe a 3mm wetty otherwise we rock the boardies.
I have a large group, can we still dive with Taz?
Definitely! Taz has all the connections to cover your needs. Working on a dive guide ratio of 4:1 we can arrange a quote for any additional dive guides that would be required to fulfill your group's needs. Get in touch and we'll get back to you with the details.
Do I need dive and travel insurance for this trip?
Absolutely, without a doubt! Comprehensive travel and diving insurance is essential for planning any scuba diving trip. Many operators require proof of both before allowing you to participate in their activities or use their services here's why.
We recommend DiveAssure for both dive and travel insurance. You can choose between single-trip or annual coverage.

Do I need any medical documents to dive?
Operators providing dive services will require you to complete an RSTC medical declaration. Should you need to answer ‘YES’ to any of the questions then you will need a doctor to sign as authorizing you to be medically fit to dive. You can find an example of the RSTC medical questionnaire here.
